drawings and traditional and modern beadwork.
HERE'S SOME OF HIS WORK:
Baby Moccasins
These baby moccasins are beaded
with the bright colors of
new life, new beginnings.
Horsehair Bracelet
This horsehair bracelet is woven from
horsehair and beaded with the
colors of the sunrise, which symbolize life and joy. Tim’s dreams and
memories are woven into his work.
Beaded Bags
There are several End
of Trail designs. These bags are made of gold
deer leather, beaded in traditional last stitch and adorned with horse
hair tassels and abalone shell conchos. They are 3.5 inches long without
fringe. These bags are for carrying sage and when he sells them they are
stuffed with sage, the sacred plant of the Lakota Sioux.
The bag with the
horse design is in memory of Wild Horse Butte,
the Pow Wow in Tim’s home town, Martin, SD.
The bag with the butterfly design is
in memory of spring. The bright colors
and new life of spring as a memory on a cold Winter evening when this bag
was made.
The bag with the tipi/bird
design is in memory of one of Tim’s
favorite places: the La Creek Refuge near Martin.
Beaded Medallion Earrings
These earrings are made with
traditional colors and designs. The accent
feathers are made from porcupine quills and seed beads. The designs are
that of a buffalo skull against the colors of the sun, an eagle spreading
his wings in the first rays of the morning sun, a teepee in the morning
sunrise, the morning star at dawn, a four color star into which I incor-
porated a slight Celtic cross to honor the origin of my last name, a tee-
pee with two arrow heads facing eachother and a turtle on a background of
four sacred colors. When I made the turtle earrings I had memories of a
lady we used to call “The Turtle Woman.” She used to have turtles of every
kind of craft you can imagine. This woman always walked to her destination,
no matter how far.
Beaded Choker
The choker I
fashioned in a brick stitch style. When the leaves of the
trees were turning color with the coming of autumns I found the colors
for this choker. The little feathers are carved from buffalo horn. To
make the tie I used a mystery braid.
